Welcome to the Huguely Reunion Website!!!

Kenneth Cobb

The Huguely Reunion was founded in Madison County, Kentucky, in 1955, and is one of the oldest organized Black family reunions in the United States. The patriarch and matriarch are Matthew Huguely and Amie Keene, born as slaves in Richmond, Kentucky, in 1829 and 1830, respectively.

This thriving and cherished reunion has over 1,400 family members and meets annually in late summer. The Huguely family tree, covering six generations, was updated in 1997, then submitted and approved as an historical document, and is located in the U.S. Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

This summer will mark the 61st annual family reunion, which will be held in Lexington, Kentucky. To many family members, our annual gathering represents a homecoming, village, and lasting legacy.

Hope you enjoy the many features, highlights, photos, history, and exciting information on this site!  And please be sure to visit this site on a frequent basis as new items are posted as we are made aware.
