GETTING REVVED UP FOR LEXINGTON!!!
With winter behind us and spring in full gear, I certainly hope everyone is getting excited about this summer’s 61st Huguely Reunion in Lexington! Following a wonderful and memorable 60th reunion in Cincinnati last year would be a tough act to follow for any group, but apparently, it looks like the Lex-Kin folks, in their planning efforts, have pulled it off “Old School” style. (For you movie buffs, Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown are in the house!!!)
Highlights include an old school family picnic, ‘Back in the Day’ video slideshow presentation, and live music featuring a 1970s R&B/soul band… I’m already working on my ‘To-pack’ lists: dashiki, bell-bottoms, Afro Sheen, polyester suit, platform shoes (w/floating goldfish), Afro pick, and Isaac Hayes theme music (“Walk On By” and “Shaft”) on 8-track. I’m also practicing the ‘Bump’, repeatedly reciting “Right On, Brother!,” and brushing up on my spelling in case I’m chosen for the Soul Train Scramble Board (e.g., H-U-G-U-E-L-Y…6-1-s-t…R-E-U-N-I-O-N).
The Lex-Kin folks have done an excellent job of planning an affordable and fun-filled weekend for the whole family. So let’s do our part in supporting them by meeting all of the stated deadlines for: hotel registration, reunion activities fees AND dues, Huguely scholarship applications, Huguely newsletter entries, Huguely family tree updates, Huguely contact information updates, and most importantly, submitting old school photos. Just to be sure, Michael Runyon has assured me that we CANNOT be blackmailed in the future for our appearance in these photos, right??? I can dig it! Well, it’s all gonna be a stone gas, y’all. So in parting… (Admit it – you know the rest…)
Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone in Lexington!!! Safe travels!
