Post-2015 Huguely Reunion Message – WOW!!!
August 11, 2015
Hello Again Huguely Family,
Just wanted to say that it was great seeing everyone and meeting other family members for the first time this past weekend in Lexington, Kentucky. I arrived home safely a few hours ago after spending the remainder of yesterday with kinfolk unable to attend the reunion. Hopefully, all of you have also returned safely to your destinations.
To quote from my business meeting welcome:
“First, I’d like to thank Lex-Kin for putting on a wonderful, appetizing, enriching, memorable, and fun-filled 2015 Huguely reunion. Please join me, by round of applause, in showing our appreciation to those Lex-Kin members who are present.
To use s baseball metaphor, I think we’re batting 1,000 right now. The Taste of Lexington and ‘Back in the Day’ video were a solid hit. The picnic food and the chef were a double up the gap – BAM!! The scholarship awardees, family tree presentation, and door prizes were a long triple. And the old school dance party at ‘Dawn’s Place’ was a walk-off homer that bought us all home!!!
As we run the bases, we tip our hat to R.C. & Ms. (Margo) Demaree while rounding first; we wave to ‘Mr. Runyon the bartender’ while stepping on second; we high five my sister Linda McLain & the young folks while crossing third; and as we stomp on home plate, we celebrate all of you who cut a rug, do-se-doe’d, stepped in the name of Huguely, got on the good foot, and just showed out in the Soul Train Dance line. Don Cornelius would have been proud…”
Hopefully, the business meeting kept the hitting streak alive… Smiling face with smiling eyes
We tried to cover, as well as discuss, many important topics during the meeting. On behalf of the Executive Committee (EC), I greatly appreciate your active participation, honest feedback, and patience.
As promised, for your convenience and familiarization, I’ve attached all of the documents from the meeting. Survey results will be analyzed and provided to you within a week (e.g., bar graphs, tables, raw statements). The EC and future host cities will be able to use this data to plan future reunions.
Reunion photos are now available on our Facebook page and will soon be uploaded to the updated Huguely website. Thanks to Michael Runyon and others who took great photos all weekend. I guess a picture IS worth 1,000 words after all. AWESOME!!!
For your planning purposes, the two next reunions will held in Detroit (2016) and Washington, D.C.. (2017). The fall EC meeting will be held next month (September). I’ll keep you posted.
Finally, I’d like to re-state the five focus areas that I request you to fully support as we strive to make updates/improvements in each one throughout this next year:
- Annual dues (please pay ASAP!)
- Family tree (all young folks included?)
- http://www.huguelyfamilyreunion.com (check frequently and any old newsletters?)
- E-mail/telephone contact list (updates?)
- Newsletter (two issues annually?)
- Please e-mail me if you have any questions. Thanks!
